LLANGOLLEN AT WAR
1940s living history and re-enactment event in the heart of the Dee Valley
Llangollen Station 5 Abbey Rd Llangollen LL20 8SN.
Llangollen heritage railway is once again taking you back to the 1940s and W.W.II. with living history groups and displays, entertainers and singers, military and civilian vehicles of the period, wartime food, fire power demonstrations and the sights and sounds of W.W.II.
There will be a Military Police check point at the gate so make sure you have your IDs ready, we are expecting an air raid later in the day by the Luftwaffe, military vehicles on the ramp as well as singers and uniformed personnel and a church service on the platform (Sunday only)
Here you will find the Home guard taking care of things as well as a small selection of period motorbikes
Here you will find plenty of living history display, both Allied and Axis as well as many period vehicles. George Formby will also be attending over the weekend to keep everyone entertained and a firepower demonstration
At Carrog station you will find period civilian cars, café selling wartime food, civilian displays and uniformed personnel
This is a new station on the Llangollen Railway and is not officially operational yet but maybe by yhr time of the event, watch this space

A 1940s dance will be held on the Saturday evening (19th September) at the Town Hall in Llangollen complete with a swing band, entry is £5.00 per person payable on the door

How do we purchase tickets?
Tickets can be purchased at any of the stations on the line, or you can order them by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page
What time does the event start and end?
Start and Finish Times 10 am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday
Are dogs allowed?
Yes, but they must be kept under control at all times
What time are the fire power demonstration and air raid taking place?

Where can I park?
There is no parking available at Llangollen Station but there are plenty of car parks in the town itself and then a short walk to the railway, there is a small car park at Carrog Station

Can we sit in the vehicles?
Please talk to the owner of the vehicle nicely, they may well let you sit in their vehicle

The total length of the line is 10 miles with 5 stations

You will find a booking form on the booking in page of this site, just print it out, fill it in and post back with a sae.
I have a period vehicle that I would like to bring and display, how can I book it in?
Yes we welcome all war vehicles, please fill in the appropriate booking form
Are Axis groups allowed?
We welcome groups from all countries, with the exception of SS, we do not tolerate Nazi party uniforms flags or paraphernalia.
How do I buy tickets for the Saturday night swing Band dance?
Entry to the 40s dance at the Town Hall are £5.00 each and pre booking is advisable, please click on the link below for 40s dance tickets. Tickets can be purchased on the door, subject to availability, so book early to avoid disappointment.
